Building Permits and Inspections

General questions regarding permitting can be directed to Carolyn Wynn at Palmetto City Hall (770-463-3377). The Building Official is Brian Epstein with Charles Abbott Associates (CAA), and Leonard Thompson is the building inspector.

Inspections can be scheduled by filing out the Inspection Scheduling Ticket below and emailing it to inspections@citypalmetto.com.

Palmetto follows the International Building Code (IBC) 2018.

 

Applying for a Building Permit

  • All building permit applications must be filed at City Hall.  Plans reviews are required for most projects costing $5,000 or more.  
  • Contractors, plumbers, electricians and heating/air tradesmen must bring a current business license and state card to include with the application. 

 

Duct & Envelope Tightness (DET) Requirement

The DET verification testing became mandatory and applicable statewide for all new residential buildings that are permitted on or after July 1, 2011.

The following information is provided to help locate certified Duct and Envelope Tightness (DET) verifiers which can perform the duct envelope and tightness testing (blower door and duct blaster test). Information can be found in the supporting documents below.
