Call for Special Election


The City of Palmetto will hold a Special Election on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 to fill the unexpired term for the Council Seat formerly held by Michael Arnold, said term ending December 31, 2021. Those persons wishing to qualify to run in the Special City Election may do so beginning September 30, 2019 through October 2, 2019, at the Palmetto City Hall, 509 Toombs Street, Palmetto, Georgia between the hours of 8:30AM and 4:30PM.

The qualifying fee for the position of Council has been set at $45.00. Said fee is three percent (3%) of the annual salary.

The polling place will be the Council Chambers of City Hall, 509 Toombs Street.

As set forth in the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1992, the City of Palmetto does not discriminate on the basis of disability and will assist citizens with special needs, as allowed by law.

Absentee ballots will be made available to any absentee elector per O.C.G.A. 21-2-381.

The final day for voter registration for this election will be October 7, 2019 per O.C.G.A. 21-2-224(a).
